The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), in alignment with national approaches, tracks education outcomes for cohorts of students who attend 8th grade in a Texas public school including rates of high school graduation, higher education enrollment, as well as types of degrees earned from a Texas college or university. Outcomes are tracked for 11 years, including the last year of middle school, four years of high school, and six years of higher education. 2026 Update: As a part of our latest update, we enhanced the 8th Grade Cohort workbooks with more detailed disaggregated data. We have also corrected the out-of-state enrollment figures for the 2014 cohort; these figures are now slightly higher than previously reported.
The updated FY 2013 and FY 2014 8th Grade Cohort workbooks replace all prior versions, and the FY 2015 8th Grade Cohort workbook is now available. Please use these workbooks in place of any older versions.
